A torrid sex scene shatters the carefully established suspense in this dark thriller - hardly the kind of thing you'd expect in an Agatha Christie mystery. But then, this is not a typical offering from the queen of crime. Country manors might have been de rigueur for Christie, but gypsy curses were much more unusual. Comedy specialist Sidney Gilliat had proved with Green for Danger (1946) that he was capable of handling whodunnits, and he keeps you guessing here as American heiress Hayley Mills becomes convinced that not even husband Hywel Bennett and best friend Britt Ekland can protect her from a malevolent menace.

Summary

A wealthy American marries her chauffeur and persuades her to buy a luxurious country home, but their happiness proves short-lived. Agatha Christie mystery, starring Hayley Mills, Hywel Bennett and Britt Ekland.
