Review

Rating: 2 out of 5.

Veteran movie-goers might just remember seeing this excitable melodrama under the title The Dream of Olwen, under which it was re-released to exploit the success of Charles Williams's theme tune. Sonia Dresdel dominates the proceedings with a Mrs Danvers-like display of neurotic malice, playing a Cornish spinster who becomes convinced that amnesiac Carol Raye is her reincarnated sister. Not even that arch scene-stealer Tom Walls can compete. This old-fashioned hokum was something of a departure for director John Harlow, who began making crime B-features and followed up this hit with a couple of Old Mother Riley comedies.
