Our Score
Everything about this low-budget British comedy drama about two charismatic young Manchester rogues seems familiar from the outset. Matt (Henry Lloyd-Hughes) and Dylan (Jack O'Connell) are first glimpsed sweet-talking their way into thieving a cigarette machine from a bar in broad daylight, before they decide to capitalise on the emerging dance scene by running illegal raves in disused warehouses - making a fortune in the process. Along the way, there's an enigmatic, doped-out DJ, a visit to Ibiza and threats to their venture from police and gangsters, not to mention a clichéd romantic subplot. The acting and direction are stylish yet brash, with a confidence teetering dangerously close to smugness. But the perennial problem with party films is that the viewer is made to feel a wallflower, looking on from the sidelines, and director Karl Golden does nothing to dispel that sense of distance here.

Summary

Two Mancunians involved with the rave scene in the early 1990s plan to become party promoters in the face of a government crackdown. Their success brings them wealth and a hedonistic lifestyle, but their friendship is placed under strain as criminal elements muscle in on their business. Drama, starring Jack O'Connell and Henry Lloyd-Hughes.
