Floods of Fear

Floods of Fear

Charles Crichton (1958)

A Certificate

Our Score
Ealing Studios veteran (and A Fish Called Wanda director) Charles Crichton didn't do his reputation any favours with this sentimental melodrama. Basically an ensemble chamber piece revolving around four people trapped by floods in a gloomy house, the predictable plot barely keeps credibility afloat as an escaped convict eventually redeems himself through decisive action when tragedy looms. Well performed by an able cast Dallas star Howard Keel, Steptoe and Son's Harry H Corbett, Cyril Cusack and, in particular, damsel in distress Anne Heywood this is typical, and unremarkable, British 1950s B-movie fare.
