Our Score
Even though Jean-Claude Van Damme gawps blankly, as if trying to remember the simplest lines is a particularly tricky task, at least his director Sheldon Lettich knows how to move the action along in this mildly efficient thriller. Balancing most of the tale between the sentimental, the risible and the hysterically overacted, Van Damme provides volleys of well-crafted fisticuffs, and somehow manages to bring a certain humanity to his punch-drunk protagonist, a deserter from the French Foreign Legion who arrives in the United States.

A French Foreign Legionnaire deserts when his brother is killed in a failed drugs deal, and after discovering an underground fighting circuit he uses his bare-knuckle fighting skills to support his impoverished sister-in-law and niece. Action adventure, starring Jean-Claude Van Damme, Harrison Page, Deborah Rennard and Lisa Pelikan.
