Review

A star rating of 1 out of 5.

Tragedy looms on the horizon for a newly engaged couple in this painfully earnest romance, which was inspired by a true story. Jenn Carter (Jessica Rothe) and Solomon Chau (Harry Shum Jr) are the kind of cute and wholesome lovebirds who make up songs about brushing their teeth. But their lives are turned upside down when he is diagnosed with terminal liver cancer, and they attempt to sing themselves happy while navigating the stress of hospital appointments and worried family members. All My Life doesn't really pay much attention to the script as it rushes through a series of romantic milestones and picture-perfect moments, all in service to an overly neat ending that delivers a life-affirming message. It doesn't help that there's not much chemistry between the leads, either. Saccharine and by-the-numbers, this is the Starbucks of romantic tearjerkers - a weepie that's so militantly affable, it lacks any real charm or emotional depth, and will fail to light a fire in your heart.
