The Late Edwina Black

The Late Edwina Black

Maurice Elvey (1951)

A Certificate

Our Score
Apart from questioning how closely they read the script when they were offered their parts, the first duty here is to exonerate the actors of any responsibility for this feeble Victorian whodunnit. You could give director Maurice Elvey a ticking off for not trying a little harder to find ways of keeping the killer's identity a secret, but then what can he do with a story that was intent on giving the game away almost before it started? Let's lay the blame solely at the door of the long-forgotten writers of the original play and say no more about it.
