There's only one reason for catching this risible offering from Hammer and that's the chance to spot the Viking wearing a wristwatch! Otherwise, there's little pleasure to be gained from watching such seasoned performers as Niall MacGinnis, Donald Houston and Adrienne Corri making fools of themselves in a story that would struggle to get a pass grade in GCSE English. The romance between Roman governor Don Murray and tribal queen Carita is silly enough, but her feuds with the local druids are so po-faced you'll either nod off or double up with laughter. Thank goodness they don't make 'em like this any more.
