Our Score
Margaret Lockwood's career was already in terminal decline by the time she made this unpersuasive melodrama. As the London lass convinced she's been blinded by lust, she does what she can with a preposterous plot that has her marrying her French lover, Paul Dupuis, only to become the target of a mysterious assassin. The assailant's identity is obvious from the start, but this hackneyed hokum is worth sticking with for the risible showdown, in which the now-seeing Lockwood proves the attacks have not been figments of her imagination after all. Kudos to the supporting cast for keeping straight faces throughout.
