Summary

Comedy starring John Ritter. Seven-year-old Junior is an orphan who, through his fiendish behaviour, has become the "most returned" inmate of the Brutus Orphanage. Eventually, he is adopted by unsuspecting suburban couple Ben and Flo, but his behaviour remains inventively destructive.

Review

A star rating of 1 out of 5.

In this dreadful mishmash of a comedy, John Ritter and Amy Yasbeck adopt a boy who is so dysfunctional, it is a wonder any part of him works at all. Not only is it crude and deeply unfunny, but it also fails to work on the simplest level as an object lesson in giving love and eventually receiving it. There is something offensive about using an unloved and rebellious orphan as the butt of bad jokes in this way. But it has to be said that the American public flocked to it in their droves, and its box-office success led to an even more obnoxious sequel.
