Review

Rating: 2 out of 5.

This uninspired Audie Murphy western was given a novel moral twist by the fact that evil marshal Stephen McNally just keeps on pursuing our baby-faced hero even though he knows he's innocent. Felicia Farr (Mrs Jack Lemmon in real life) is the girl Murphy enlists to help him, and there are some mean hombres in tow - including sleek Robert Middleton and steel-eyed Jan Merlin - but really this doesn't add up to much. It also gains from being filmed in CinemaScope, and from the presence of old-time western hero Bob Steele - best known perhaps for his minor role as the killer Canino in The Big Sleep. However, veteran director George "Pops" Sherman's direction is as mundane as it ever was.
