Pastor Hall

Pastor Hall

Our Score
This highly impressive third feature from the Boulting brothers has been unjustly dismissed as a routine wartime flag-waver on the theme of Nazi intolerance. Rather, it is a bold and often stirring tribute to the universal power of faith, courage and personal conviction. Co-written by Leslie Arliss, the picture is based on the life of the Protestant minister Martin Niemoller who was interned in a concentration camp for failing to preach against either socialism or Judaism. Wilfrid Lawson plays Pastor Hall with great dignity and he is admirably supported by Nova Pilbeam, Seymour Hicks, Marius Goring and the ever-excellent Hay Petrie.
