The Secret of NIMH

Our Score
Animator Don Bluth rebelled against the mighty Mouse and set out to remind a then-struggling Disney about the glory days of animation. He largely succeeded (the schmaltzy sentimentality which would cloud his later works such as An American Tail and The Land before Time is the only drawback) with this story about a proud mouse who strikes up an unlikely friendship with the rat branch of Mensa. The animation is lovingly rendered and there's a pedigree cast (Dom DeLuise, Derek Jacobi, John Carradine) providing voices.

Don Bluth's animated children's adventure about a widowed mouse who seeks help from the king of a group of highly intelligent rats in the hope of finding a cure for her sick child. With the voices of Derek Jacobi, Elizabeth Hartman, Hermione Baddeley, Dom DeLuise and John Carradine. Based on Robert C O'Brien's novel Mrs Frisby and the Rats of NIMH.
