Our Score
The title says it all. This is not a big-screen spin-off from the hit TV series; it's simply a film of the 2011 concert tour performed by the cast, in character, and presented in indifferent 3D. Between renditions of a bunch of hit pop songs we are treated to some adulatory fan guff explaining how Glee has changed their lives, plus a few brief and contrived "backstage" bits. And that's just about it. There's no context, no cross-reference to the TV show. It's just Singalong-a-Glee. So, unlike, say, the contemporaneous Justin Bieber film, which intersperses concert performance with Bieber biography and an insight into who and what he is, there's nothing at all here for the non-Glee fan. The Glee 3D Concert Movie is fine as far as it goes. It just doesn't go very far. There's fun to be had, but only if you fancy a karaoke-style singsong.

Documentary going behind the scenes of the 2011 tour, in which the stars of the TV series performed a series of concerts featuring renditions of pop songs that appeared in the show. The film includes performances from the concerts, backstage interviews with the cast and fans discussing what the series means to them.
