Review

A star rating of 4 out of 5.

Sophisticated, cynical black comedy from writer/director/star Elaine May about a middle-aged playboy (Walter Matthau) who, lacking the resources to sustain his extravagant lifestyle, decides to marry wealthy wallflower May to keep himself in the luxury to which he's accustomed. Matthau intends to bump his new bride off, only to find himself afflicted by a guilty conscience. A Manhattan fairy tale with a wonderfully mordant edge.
