Our Score
Co-scripted by director Val Guest and gagsmith Marriott Edgar, who wrote for Will Hay and the Crazy Gang and penned some of Stanley Holloway's famous monologues, this is one of Arthur Askey's lesser-known vehicles. This may be because there's a sauciness to the dialogue and lyrics that makes it rather risqué for its time. As one of four pilots stranded on a South Sea island, Askey revels in the attentions of the local maidens, only to discover that it's traditional for husbands to kill themselves once the honeymoon is over. Max Bacon and Ronald Shiner do the stooging, while Jean Kent provides the glamour.
