Review

Rating: 3 out of 5.

For the fourth and last of the Matt Helm spy spoofs starring Dean Martin, Phil Karlson (director of original movie The Silencers) was dragooned back into service. The resulting romp is a send-up of Goldfinger - Helm has to locate tons of hijacked American bullion before its theft leads to economic meltdown. Needless to say, Helm's investigation involves the seduction of several women (including the tragic Sharon Tate), a trek across Europe and a lot of gadgets. Fans of Austin Powers will lap up its sexism, groovy styling and general lack of subtlety.
