Whether children will take on board the ecological message contained in this musical animation is open to debate, especially as the tone of the politically correct tale is often rather preachy. However, the "furlings" who venture out into the big bad world to find the herbs needed to save one of their sickly playmates are cute and courageous, and their encounters with some unthinking humans and menacing machines should keep youngsters on the edge of their seats. Sadly, in common with so many non-Disney cartoons, the standard of the songs is poor and the animation lacks magic.

A mouse, a mole and a hedgehog find their carefree lives threatened when humans spill toxic chemicals in their woodland homes, leaving their badger friend seriously ill. The three animals set off on a perilous journey in search of a cure and a means to protect the woods from further disaster. Animated adventure, with the voices of Michael Crawford and Ben Vereen.
