Review

A star rating of 3 out of 5.

Michael Caine has returned to his suburban hideaway after a spell in Hollywood and he's brought a lot of A-list pals seeking anonymity in this sly satire on the ordinary folk whose personalities are hijacked by the media. Fans of the cult BBC series will be delighted to see Phil Cornwell and John Sessions being given the opportunity to flesh out their wicked caricatures. There are longueurs and a number of misfiring gags, yet, the concept remains inspired. The re-imaginings of Jack Nicholson, Al Pacino, David Bowie, and Mick Jagger and Keith Richards (not to mention Ronni Ancona's Madonna and Posh Spice) are both barbed and affectionate.
