Our Score
This moving film is based on a true story about a nuclear power plant worker who died under mysterious circumstances on her way to a meeting with the press, at which she intended to show them proof of improprieties at her workplace. Meryl Streep is charismatic and convincing in the lead and there's strong support from Cher and Kurt Russell. But despite the interesting premise, particularly topical at the time of its Cold War release, the movie sags owing to a lack of tension and director Mike Nichols's tendency to focus on the romantic subplot. Nevertheless, it's a thought-provoking film that asks questions about the safety of the nuclear power industry that are still pertinent.

A nuclear power station worker is exposed to dangerous levels of radiation. Her employers insist this is an isolated incident, but she is convinced there is more to it and gathers evidence of their near total disregard for safety standards. Meanwhile, the company is ready to go to any lengths to keep her quiet. Fact-based drama, starring Meryl Streep, Kurt Russell, Cher, Craig T Nelson and Ron Silver.
