Our Score
A routine western from Universal, with Joel McCrea posing as an outlaw to bring a criminal gang to justice. McCrea's stolid sturdiness nearly sinks the film; you keep wanting him to show more emotion, but, after all, he is in disguise, even from his own son. George Sherman's direction is undistinguished, but two subsequent TV stars make a creditable showing - Barbara Hale from Perry Mason and Gunsmoke's James Arness. McCrea and Hale would team up again four years later for the equally uninvolving The Oklahoman.

An undercover agent poses as an outlaw to infiltrate a gang of criminals, but his secret double life as a detective for the famous Pinkerton agency leads his family to believe he may be engaged in illegal activities. Western adventure, starring Joel McCrea, Barbara Hale, Alex Nicol and Charles Drake.
