Our Score
Joel McCrea may be top-billed in this fitfully entertaining Universal western, but his limelight is stolen by a superb wild stallion called Outlaw who won the 1955 Patsy Award of Excellence for animal actors. Here, Outlaw plays the horse that McCrea's co-stars Mari Blanchard and Murvyn Vye want to capture for breeding purposes, and that's about it as far as the plot is concerned. It's directed by Jesse Hibbs from a warm-hearted screenplay by the prolific Daniel Mainwaring, who's better known as the writer of film noir classics Build My Gallows High and The Big Steal.

A rancher and his son try to capture and tame a stallion that has been luring mares away from other farms and into the wild. Also seeking the animal are a female rancher, who becomes the focus of a love triangle between father and son, and a disreputable horse farmer. Western, starring Joel McCrea, Mari Blanchard and Race Gentry.
