Our Score
This superb sci-fi thriller is set in a dystopian future where time is money - literally. The ageing process stops at 25, and the population toils to earn more hours, days, months and years or face death. But when down-at-heel factory fodder Will (Justin Timberlake) unwittingly inherits an entire century, he sets off to bring down the system. Teaming up with Sylvia (Amanda Seyfried), the daughter of a crooked billionaire industrialist (Mad Men's Vincent Kartheiser), Will embarks on a series of daring robberies to redistribute the wealth and close the gap between the haves and the have-nots, pursued by ruthless "timekeeper" police. Seyfried is a feisty Bonnie to Timberlake's philanthropic Clyde, while a suitably sinister Kartheiser and Cillian Murphy as an obsessive cop shine as the couple's authoritarian adversaries. Writer/director Andrew Niccol's elaborate premise (described by one character as "Darwinian capitalism") is an intriguing starting point for a yarn full of action and moral ambiguity, as intelligently crafted as his screenplays for The Truman Show and Gattaca (which he also directed).

Future scientists reverse the ageing process, allowing people to live for ever. To avoid overpopulation, time becomes a currency, with the rich living indefinitely while the poor must toil to stave off death. A factory worker acquires 100 years of time, and spends it fighting to redress the balance of power. Sci-fi thriller, starring Justin Timberlake, Amanda Seyfried and Cillian Murphy.
