Our Score
Even ardent Hilary Duff fans will have a hard time swallowing this thoroughly dim-witted romantic comedy. Duff plays Holly, a high-school teen cursed with a frankly certifiable mother (Heather Locklear) who drags her from state to state in search of the mythical "perfect man". When the dismal duo finally wash up in Brooklyn, Holly decides to take matters into her own hands and invents a fictitious romantic partner for her crazy ma. To be fair, not much of the blame can be laid at the feet of either Locklear or Duff - both occasionally seem to be on the verge of realising the sheer stupidity of the scenario and simply walking out. Rather, it's Gina Wendkos's asinine, gaseous and often illogical screenplay together with Mark Rosman's insultingly lazy direction that render this almost unwatchable.

Teenager Holly Hamilton grows tired of moving home every time her mother splits up with another boyfriend. When the family travels to New York, Holly is determined to stay in one place and vows to find her mum the ideal partner - even if she has to make him up. However, when the relationship starts to take off, Holly is faced with the impossible task of producing a perfect man to live up to her mother's inflated expectations. Romantic comedy, starring Hilary Duff, Heather Locklear and Chris Noth.
