After escaping her violent husband, a woman makes it her life's mission to help free others in danger. Drama, starring Olivia Wilde and Morgan Spector
A former victim of domestic abuse comes to the rescue of other women by administering her own violent form of justice in this sombre drama. Olivia Wilde stars as Sadie, the avenging angel with creative methods of righting wrongs while events from her own troubled past continue to simmer near the surface, her actions also serving as a form of personal therapy. First-time writer/director Sarah Daggar-Nickson delivers an untarnished, slow-burning film punctuated by lengthy silences that disturb as much as the bloodiness of the punishments Sadie metes out. The pauses occasionally stall the narrative, but Wilde is a captivating presence, the rage inside her character, curiously, given more weight by the passiveness of her expressions.
