Our Score
Robert Louis Stevenson's oft-told split personality tale receives its most stylish, erotic and exciting treatment under Rouben Mamoulian's sure direction. Fredric March deservedly won the best actor Oscar - shared with Wallace Beery in The Champ - for his tormented performance as the good-hearted physician whose research into man's dark side ends up changing him into the animalistic Mr Hyde; the single-take transformation scenes are particularly impressive. Also memorable is the smouldering sensuality of Miriam Hopkins as the prostitute who's the object of his evil attentions. This most enduring adaptation of the Faustian moral fable is totally satisfying.

Classic version of Robert Louis Stevenson's horror tale about a respected Victorian physician, obsessed with the nature of good and evil, whose experiments have monstrous side-effects. Starring Fredric March, Miriam Hopkins, Rose Hobart and Holmes Herbert.
