Review

Our Score
In the 1970s, there was a misguided belief among British film-makers that successful sitcoms could be transferred to the big screen. The majority unsurprisingly proved to be huge disappointments, and this was no exception, although it did have one saving grace: the presence of the incomparable Sid James. He is the grouchy father, married to Diana Coupland, who is trying to come to grips with his teenage children and his neighbours (the almost obligatory Terry Scott and June Whitfield). There is no shortage of familiar faces (Bill Maynard, Sally Geeson, Peter Butterworth, Wendy Richard), but there are more laughs in the gloriously naff 1970s fashions than in the script.

Summary

Middle-aged father Sid Abbott's dream of building an illegal whisky still in the shed is continually frustrated by the antics of his son and daughter. However, he has a bigger problem in store when new neighbours move in next door and conflict instantly erupts. Comedy, based on the sitcom, starring Sid James, Diana Coupland and Sally Geeson.
