Our Score
The early 1980s brought a rash of fantasy adventures, ranging from the camp fun of Conan the Barbarian to such dire examples as The Sword and the Sorcerer. This one, which follows a magician's assistant on his quest to kill a dragon, is aimed more at a family audience, though it's not without its violent moments. It doesn't take itself too seriously and benefits from a good cast that includes Ralph Richardson and John Hallam. The effects aren't bad either.

Summary

A community forced to sacrifice young girls to a dragon seeks the aid of a powerful wizard to kill the creature. However, when the sorcerer dies, his apprentice takes on the challenge just as a princess, ashamed of the privilege she enjoys, offers herself up as the next victim. Fantasy adventure, with Peter MacNicol, Caitlin Clarke and Ralph Richardson.
