Our Score
Produced by Michael Balcon and directed by Basil Dearden, this is a halfway decent stab at the difficult art of the portmanteau picture - a selection of short stories linked by a common theme. In an admirable all-star cast, Mervyn and Glynis Johns are splendid as the ghostly hosts at a Welsh inn where the guests are given the chance to re-evaluate their lives and make a more positive contribution to the war effort. Cowardice, black marketeering, family unity and the thorny issue of Irish neutrality are all explored in an intelligent piece of propaganda that still makes optimistic entertainment.

A group of people are given the opportunity to reassess their lives while staying at a spooky remote Welsh inn which certainly is not all it seems. Thriller, starring Mervyn Johns, Glynis Johns, Alfred Drayton, Tom Walls and Esmond Knight.
