The mommy's boy scenario has invariably been the stuff of comedy. You only have to look at such serious variations as the Jessica Lange vehicle
Hush
to see how easily the situation can spiral into hysterical melodrama. Pretty much the same thing happens in this cliché-ridden TV movie, in which smothering mother Barbara Mandrell decides that the key to the disappearance of her recovering alcoholic son (Jonathan Scarfe) is his highly strung girlfriend (Zoe McClellan). The tensions between the vulnerable Scarfe and his manipulative mother are soundly sustained, but the discovery of a body tips the action over the edge.
Summary
A girl is introduced to her new boyfriend's family - but makes such a bad impression on his doting mother that the scene is soon set for tragedy. Drama, starring Barbara Mandrell, Jonathan Scarfe, Zoe McLellan and Barry Flatman.
