Our Score
This thoroughly enjoyable mix of swashbuckling action and Arabian Nights-style fantasy from DreamWorks demonstrates that there's still plenty of mileage in good old-fashioned storytelling. The adventure follows scallywag Sinbad (voiced by Brad Pitt) and his crew as they try to retrieve the powerful Book of Peace from conniving goddess Eris (Michelle Pfeiffer). Although some of the animation, like the plotline, is a tad basic, the stops are pulled out for the set pieces that include a glorious sea sequence with seductive sirens and an exciting escape from a giant bird of prey. However, for all the film's Boys' Own ambience, it's the two women characters who dominate - Pfeiffer makes a fabulously sinister villain while Catherine Zeta-Jones's stowaway, Marina, sets a strong and sassy example to young female viewers.

A swashbuckling hero has 10 days to recover a priceless book from a deceitful sea goddess or his friend will be executed. As he sets out on his quest, he discovers the condemned man's fiancee has stowed away on board his ship to make sure he goes through with the task. Animated adventure, with the voices of Brad Pitt, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Joseph Fiennes and Michelle Pfeiffer.
