Waiting for You

At the beginning of this intriguing mystery drama, an ageing army veteran is on his deathbed. Before he dies, he hints at a hidden past, saying something about a man who ruined his life. His son, Paul (Colin Morgan), follows clues to a large house in the south of France, where he encounters a secretive woman named Madeleine (Fanny Ardant). Does she know something? What really happened to Paul's dad? These questions drive the story for an hour or so, but the answers aren't satisfying. At the end of the film, you might be unclear about one or two things. Still, Morgan is excellent as a young man who needs to know the truth about his father - good or bad - while Ardant is mysterious and alluring. Waiting For You won't linger in the memory, but it has enough intrigue to hold your attention.
