Paul Lukas plays a German-American art dealer who returns to Germany in 1939 and becomes a card-carrying Nazi. However, his position changes when the Jewishness of his partner's daughter is discovered. Lukas overacts terribly in what is a slow and rather worthy slice of wartime propaganda. Director William Cameron Menzies is better known as the production designer who worked on such classics as Invaders from Mars (which he also directed) and Gone with the Wind.

An art dealer is seduced by propaganda during a trip to Nazi Germany, leading him to turn on his own family. Second World War thriller, starring Paul Lukas and Carl Esmond.
