Our Score
Nine men and one woman look for buried treasure in the desert. Partly filmed in Death Valley, it's an old story with the usual assortment of incompatible characters but cleverly written by western novelist Alan LeMay, smartly directed by a young John Sturges, and ably cast: Randolph Scott is his usual incorruptible self, John Ireland a detective with William Bishop as his quarry, and Edgar Buchanan a wily old prospector, while Arthur Kennedy plays a drifter as shifty as the sand dunes. The setting is made to count and there's a memorable sandstorm in which a fight with shovels takes place. The sole woman among the dunes and dudes is Ella Raines (Phantom Lady).

A mismatched band of adventurers, including a man wanted for murder and the detective on his trail, journey through a series of sand dunes in search of the treasure rumoured to be buried there. A love triangle, a sandstorm, and a lot of mistrust quickly tear the group apart. Western, starring Randolph Scott and Ella Raines.
