Our Score
The first Iron Sky (2012) was as an endearingly bonkers satire on right-wing extremism and its modern-day resurgence, with leftover Nazis in a swastika-shaped moonbase launching flying saucers to conquer Earth and re-establish their Reich. This better-funded, more lavish sequel seeks to be equally engaging and wacky, but the result is an incoherent if well-made mess that will find most favour with the more fervent devotees of' "trash" cinema. What passes for a plot involves Moon-based survivors of a nuclear winter, a hollow Earth, the search for an everlasting power source, dinosaurs, shape-shifting lizard creatures but disappointingly fewer Nazis, apart from Hitler astride a T rex. There are certainly a few fun moments but the best trash cinema evolves organically. The Coming Race works just a bit too hard at being bonkers.

Premiere. It's 2047 and Earth has been destroyed by nuclear war. The last of mankind, struggling to co-exist on the moon, race to battle an extraordinary enemy and save humanity. It's a conflict involving dinosaurs, near-death experiences and Nazis. Fantasy sequel to cult movie Iron Sky, starring Lara Rossi, Vladimir Burlakov and Kit Dale.
