Our Score
This post-Civil War drama takes as its starting point the accidental shooting of the small son of a former Union officer by a member of a Confederate family passing through a small town. Going on to explore the divisions that emerge within the killer's family, as well as the response of the parents, played by John Payne and Ruth Roman, it is more sober and thoughtful than most westerns, with veteran character actor J Carrol Naish scoring as the bearded Confederate patriarch.
