Our Score
As the night express from Euston to Liverpool is about to career off the rails, the movie also lurches into flashback, showing why various passengers were making the fated journey. There's the engine driver (well, we know why he's there); a philandering orchestra conductor; an actor who's killed his wife; and a girl in love with an escaped German PoW. Rehashing 1933's Friday the 13th, which was set aboard a doomed bus, this portmanteau effort is inevitably uneven, though the cast of stalwarts is worth watching. The segments were directed by Basil Dearden, Charles Crichton and Sidney Cole.

Four stories linked by a train crash. Tales include a troubled driver making his final run before a hoped-for promotion and a second-rate actor who murders his wife in a fit of jealousy. Comedy drama anthology, starring Jack Warner, Peter Finch, Susan Shaw, Joan Dowling, Lawrence Payne and John Clements.
