Our Score
Off-screen spouses (at the time) Rex Harrison and Lilli Palmer star in this risible courtroom drama in which Harrison stands trial for murder, while the real killer canoodles with his wilting wife. Co-director Anthony Bushell also plays Harrison's defence lawyer, but there are no sparks in his clashes with prosecutor Denis O'Dea, and the scenes in which Anthony Dawson menaces Palmer are about as tense as snapped elastic. To add insult to boredom, there is a ridiculous final twist that makes it even harder to believe that this drivel was co-written by one of Hollywood's slickest scriptwriters, Nunnally Johnson.
