Review

Our Score
Though not a patch on Iris Murdoch's 1961 novel, nor its subsequent stage adaptation, this is still an amusing, sophisticated British sex comedy which, in its highly polished way, recalls Ross Hunter's Hollywood films of the 1950s and 60s. Screenwriter Frederic Raphael was obviously writing about people he knew - academics and posh folk indulging in a mad charade of partner-swapping. In his first screen lead, Ian Holm is the harassed wine merchant juggling a wife and mistresses. The Likely Lads co-writer Dick Clement directs with confidence.

Summary

An adulterous wine merchant has his infidelities paid back in kind when his wife openly has an affair with her psychiatrist. Comedy, starring Ian Holm and Lee Remick.
