Our Score
During the Second World War, a schoolteacher does her bit for the war effort by opening a nursery school next door to a munitions factory so that the children's mothers can work. The enterprise only gets going after some problems regarding the premises she wants to rent, which belong to the mysterious chap who lives in the garden cottage. Directed by Gordon Wellesley for the British arm of Columbia, this sentimental and unremarkable film combines patriotic flag-waving with romance, some humour and a few songs, as a vehicle for "Forces' Sweetheart" Vera Lynn, who does her best. Peter Murray Hill co-stars and comics Jimmy Jewel, Irene Handl and Jimmy Clitheroe are in the large supporting cast.
