Our Score
As an exiled former Spanish Civil War guerrilla, Gregory Peck is drawn into a confrontation years later with brutal police chief Anthony Quinn, in a story based on a novel by Emeric Pressburger. Director Fred Zinnemann continues his High Noon tradition of combining moral dilemmas with violent action, and the film contains one of Peck's finest, least heroic performances. Omar Sharif is miscast as a young priest, however, spouting the message of virtue versus vengeance a little too blatantly to hold the attention.
