Our Score
This stirring and well-played romantic drama set at the time of the Normandy landings in 1944 is unusual for a film made in the 1950s in that it shows the personal problems of officers actually encroaching on their work. Robert Taylor stars as the American serviceman who recalls his affair with Dana Wynter while her fiancé Richard Todd was fighting in Africa. Aside from the familiar "us-and-them" scenario and the "stiff-upper-lip" heroics of the D-Day invasion, the many pluses of this movie include some fine acting and spectacular action sequences.

A British colonel and an American captain board a ship heading out on a dangerous mission as part of the Normandy Landings. As the two men prepare for the battle to come, they both reminisce about their love for the same woman. Second World War drama, starring Robert Taylor, Richard Todd, Dana Wynter and Edmond O'Brien.
