Review

Our Score
Director Jeannot Szwarc is a real movie buff, yet of his efforts only Somewhere in Time shows real quality. Others - Santa Claus or Supergirl, for example - are well-made without being inspiring. Similarly, this Cold War thriller is neither one thing nor another, and seems to have suffered some post-production rethinking plotwise. A classy cast pretends they know what's going on as the KGB try to kill five dissidents in the West, only to find their way barred, not by James Bond, but unlikely CIA agent Martin Sheen. The title of this Anglo-French co-production is rather apt; perhaps TV is its rightful home.

Summary

A defector returns to East Germany on a mission to steal the Enigma encoder and learn the names of five dissidents the KGB plans to murder. Thriller, starring Martin Sheen, Sam Neill and Derek Jacobi.
