Our Score
This spaghetti western lacks the stylisation and darkly comic touches that characterised the films of Italian western supremos Sergio Leone or Sergio Corbucci, with whom Franco Nero, the hero of this film, would team later in the same year for the cult classic Django. Without ever matching the charisma of the coffin-hauling, killing machine character of that movie, Nero here plays a dutiful son who sets about avenging his father's death with brooding conviction (indeed, the film was released as The Avenger in the States). But director Ferdinando Baldi's script lacks an innovative set piece that might have enlivened the all-too-familiar plotline, and the film lacks the explosive punch of the best of its kind.

A sheriff takes revenge on his father's killer, chasing the murderer into Mexico to make him pay for his crimes. However, his mission proves costly as he must then face the wrath of the man's son - who also happens to be his own half-brother. Western, starring Franco Nero, Alberto Dell'Acqua and Elisa Montes. Dubbed in English.
