Whatever you do, don't go to see Chef on an empty stomach - it's a feel-good foodie film that will have you salivating within minutes. Director and star Jon Favreau (Swingers, Iron Man) puts a lot of moxie into his role as stellar chef Carl Casper, who quits working for an upmarket restaurateur (Dustin Hoffman) so he can rediscover his culinary mojo. With support from his ex-wife Inez (Modern Family bombshell Sofia Vergara) Carl winds up in Miami with a food truck, his son (Emjay Anthony) and old friend/fellow cook Martin (John Leguizamo). Cue an uplifting road trip back to LA that produces delicious morsels of family bonding. Scarlett Johansson, Robert Downey Jr (in a brief cameo) and Oliver Platt (as an acerbic food critic) add to the uplifting fun, while Favreau skilfully cooks up a film that's sweet and spicy, without a trace of bitterness - and that's a flavour nobody misses.
