If you're in the mood for some undemanding action entertainment, this routine buddy cop caper offers some cheap laughs. Stand-up comic Kevin Hart plays a wimpish high-school security guard and wannabe police detective. His other big ambition is to marry Tika Sumpter, but first he has to get the blessing of her brother (Ice Cube), a hardcase Atlanta cop. Ice insists that Hart ride along with him on a nightmare 24-hour patrol where their main focus is hunting down a vicious criminal (played by Laurence Fishburne), but Ice also contrives to throw Hart into other hairy situations to break his spirit. Much fairly obvious slapstick action ensues, often with violence as a substitute for a decent punch-line. Efficient rather than inspired,
is watchable enough, but it's unlikely to make as big an impression in the UK as it did on its blockbusting release in America.
A wannabe police officer persuades his girlfriend's tough detective brother to take him along on duty. The cop hopes to scare his unwanted partner away from his sister by exposing him to danger - but needs some help when the patrol leads to a run-in with the city's most wanted criminal. Comedy, starring Ice Cube, Kevin Hart and Laurence Fishburne.
