In this fast-paced futuristic thriller, violent inmates take over an experimental prison ship orbiting the Earth and hold the US president's humanitarian-worker daughter (Maggie Grace) among their hostages. So maverick government agent Snow (Guy Pearce), who's been falsely convicted of espionage and is offered a pardon, blasts off on a rescue mission. But have the powers-that-be given him the full picture, and what's really going on in the jail? What might, on paper, look like a bog-standard "Escape from New York in space" variation quickly establishes its own character and personality, thanks mainly to Pearce's charismatic wisecracking hero and a pair of genuinely chilling adversaries in Vincent Regan and Misfits/This Is England star Joseph Gilgun. First-time directors James Mather and Stephen St Leger also keep the tension at boiling point with a series of bloody but deftly staged shocks, which help to obscure the occasional incredulities of the plot.

A government agent is framed for murder, and sentenced to a prison on board a space station. Before he can be sent there, a riot takes place in the penitentiary and the convicts seize control, holding the president's daughter hostage. The condemned man is offered a pardon if he can rescue her. Sci-fi thriller, starring Guy Pearce and Maggie Grace.
