Our Score
Revamping teen-witch movie The Craft for boys, this brash and empty horror film lacks magic. At an elite public school in the Massachusetts town of Ipswich, four teenagers (led by Sky High's Steven Strait) struggle to cope with supernatural powers handed down through their families since the days of the Salem witch-hunts. This plays like something brainstormed in a marketing meeting, with director Renny Harlin (yes, the Renny Harlin who made Die Hard 2 and The Long Goodnight) desperately trying to appeal to the core demographic with a thrash-metal soundtrack, petulant teen angst, and some subversive humour ("Harry Potter can kiss my ass!"). He fails miserably, though, and most teenagers will probably be embarrassed on the film's behalf.

Four teenagers at a New England academy, who have inherited mystical powers passed down through generations since the time of the Salem witch trials, are forced to battle an evil adversary intent on asserting the dominance he has long been denied. Supernatural horror, with Steven Strait, Sebastian Stan and Laura Ramsey.
