Our Score
Charlton Heston stars as the South American plantation owner battling his red-haired wife (Eleanor Parker) and a plague of red ants, which provides a spectacular climax to this riveting tale directed by Byron Haskin (The War of the Worlds). Both an adventure and a thought-provoking drama, the movie is beautifully photographed by Ernest Laszlo and remains one of Heston's most interesting early films, before he starred in such epics as The Ten Commandments and Ben-Hur. The insect villains of the piece are a truly unnerving threat, and earned themselves a nefarious nod from Steven Spielberg in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

A tough South American cocoa plantation owner and his newly arrived mail-order bride are menaced by a huge column of ferocious killer ants destroying everything in their path. Thriller, starring Charlton Heston, Eleanor Parker and William Conrad.
