Our Score
This multilayered, superbly cast western, produced from a powerful screenplay by Spartacus's Dalton Trumbo, incorporates themes not usually found in westerns, or in many other American movies of the period, notably incest and suicide. Under the heavy hand of Dirty Dozen director Robert Aldrich, this Freud-on-the-range saga doesn't quite come off, but the magnificent cast ensures that the film is not just for fans of the genre - Rock Hudson and Kirk Douglas are at ease in the saddle and a joy to watch. The brunt of the movie, however, is borne by Carol Lynley, excellent as a gal brought up on a savage frontier.

A wanted murderer travels to Mexico to see the now-married love of his life, little realising he is being pursued by a determined sheriff. However, both the outlaw and the lawman end up working for the woman's husband on a cattle drive. Western, starring Rock Hudson, Kirk Douglas, Dorothy Malone and Joseph Cotten.
